Services & Coverage
What services are covered?
See our services page for a list of covered services.
How many hours of care can someone receive?
The number of care hours one can receive is based on their individual needs – there is no set maximum. For clients with severe functional limitations requiring extensive care, Expanded Home Help Services (EHHS) can be authorized. This is available when hands-on care needs exceed 179.9 hours per month. EHHS must be approved by an adult services supervisor and/or the MDHHS Home Help Policy Section. Each client’s care hours are determined based on their specific situation and care requirements.
What services aren't covered?
The Home Help services don’t cover 24-hour-a-day home care, meal delivery, homemaker services unrelated to the care plan, home repairs, prompting or reminding someone to do a task, supervision, transportation, yard work, financial services or custodial care when that’s the only care they need.

Not all types of medicaid support home help. Usually, straight medicaid is the best for coverage.
